Avocado: This fruit makes for the perfect homemade hair treatment ingredient to naturally nourish hair because it is a good source of healthy fats, biotins (vitamin B) and Omega-3. According to Hairfinity, avocados are good for dry hair because it is also high in amino acids, iron, copper, folic acid and magnesium. The oils from avocados are also one of the few that can penetrate the cuticle and effectively add moisture to the hair.

Jojoba Oil: Unlike other natural oils, Jojoba oil resembles sebum, a waxy substance produced by our skin glands. This is a healthier and more natural replacement to animal fats that are commonly used in manufactured skin and hair products. Sierra Bright of naturallivingideas.com said that jojoba oil makes dry and frizzy hair more manageable. The oil creates a barrier around our hair strands and prevents harsh hair products from stripping off natural oils from your hair.

Banana: Rich in natural oils, vitamins, carbohydrates, and potassium, banana prevents split ends, breakage and helps with the hair’s natural elasticity. According to Style Craze’s Aparajita Chattopadhyay, bananas improve hair’s growth, shine and manageability.

In terms of prevention of hair loss, you can replace your conditioner with olive oil to bring and retain moisture back to your hair. Making this change to your hair routine can help remove the build-up of sebum that interferes the formation of new hair follicles and stops hair growth.

Honey: Known for its antiseptic and antibacterial qualities, Honey prevents the scalp from various infections and helps combat itchiness caused by dryness and dandruff. Anamika M. said that this super-food is a natural antioxidant that can stimulate hair growth and can penetrate inactive hair follicles to boost hair growth. Because honey has high sugar content, it can also retain moisture, prevent hair fall and strengthen hair follicles.
